Do you find that tennis scoring apps need total concentration on every point and lots of thinking and work after the point in order to get good statistics? Stop you watching the game and applauding the good plays? Leave you stressed when you make an error? If so, then TennisTrend is the app for you!

There are three ways to use it. In the simplest, just tap the score buttons to keep track of how the games went. There are four basic screens: one for match data, one to keep score, one to see graphically how the match swung or is swinging from one player to the other over time (the "tennis trend"), and one for overall statistics.

The second way is more detailed. You identify how each rally ended: outright winner, attempted winner, forced error or unforced error. These details are shown on a fifth screen game by game.

The third mode adds a record of whether the rally began with a first or second serve, and lets you specify the shot that ended the rally. This leads to an additional screen of much more sophisticated statistics, showing the success of each shot type, and the points won on first or second serve. A seventh screen shows how the match went point by point, for even deeper analysis, and an eighth shows these results graphically. In this mode you can also get a prediction of how the match is going to turn out, as you score each point.

Whichever way you use it, all the data is held only locally for each match scored, so you can keep it confidential, but always look back.

As a tennis father, I developed the app after finding existing apps too intimidating and distracting. My daughter in the beginning didnt need to know the precise details. But as she developed so did her need for more detailed data, and the app has developed, along with her skills, to support all that. We find the graphical record and statistics help to recall the details later and assess performance. And the resulting insights help to get the best out of your game.

Why not give it a try?
